概要

打者が攻撃においてどれだけの得点を創出したかを表す指標。打者のBaseRunsの値が60ならチームの得点のうち60点を対象の打者が生み出したという意味で、値が大きいほど多くの得点を創出しチームに貢献していることとなる。


計算式

BaseRuns=A×{B/(B+C)}+D

 A=安打+四球+死球-本塁打-0.5×故意四球

 B={1.4×塁打-0.6×安打-3×本塁打+0.1×(四球-故意四球+死球)+0.9×(盗塁-盗塁刺-併殺打)}×1.1

 C=打数-安打+盗塁刺+併殺打

 D=本塁打


背景

BaseRunsはデイビッド・スミスが考案した得点推定式である。位置付けとしてはRCの改良版にあたり、RCが「出塁×進塁÷機会」という構造をしていたのに対してBaseRunsは「出塁×生還率+本塁打」という構造をしている。


RCとBaseRunsとの主な相違は本塁打の取り扱いである。BaseRunsでは本塁打を他の出塁と分けて扱っている。RCでは「1打数1本塁打」の場合には4点となり、「100打数1本塁打」の場合には0.04点となる。これらはいずれもチーム成績としては破綻した結果であるが、BaseRunsはいずれも1点という適切な結果を出力する。


このように本塁打の取り扱いを分けたことにより、BaseRunsは「塁に出た走者のうち進塁を原因として一定割合が生還した分と本塁打の分が得点となる」という野球の仕組みを表現する論理的な組成の式となっている(生還率の推定さえ正しければBaseRunsの結果は必ず正しくなる)。


一般的な得点推定式の中では得点を推定する精度も高く、最も正確な部類である。打者を得点で評価する以外にも様々な用途で用いられる。
